LAS VEGAS-The Las Vegas Summer Market expansion of exhibitors and showrooms, particularly in the gift category, resulted in a noticeably busier opening day yesterday compared to last year’s July market.
The common areas of Building C, where many of the new showrooms are located, were especially packed with attendees. As expected, the show has brought, numerous West Coast buyers as well as those from Canada and other countries, vendors said.
At the request of retailers, Midwest-CBK has launched a handcrafted decorative and semi-precious jewelry collection called Curia. The company has added hundreds of SKUs to its many collections and said its newest lighting pieces have been particularly well received … tag, after receiving feedback from its representative across the country, has focused on new merchandising solutions and fixturing programs to highlight its existing lines (such as napkin rings) and launched its spring 2014 collections.
Lexington unveiled its eye-catching Tower Place collection, inspired by Chicago’s Park Hyatt Hotel, featuring what the company calls a “transitional, soft contemporary” style. The company also added two new collections to its Tommy Bahama outdoor furnishings …Twin-Star International introduced a bladeless fan and heater, the first offering from its new brand Twin-Star Home … Sealy added gel to its upscale Stearns & Foster line of mattresses.
Among the introductions at Safavieh is its first collection of crystal lighting. Consisting of 50 styles of table and floor lamps, the collection has a range of transitional styles, and lamps in its other collections will now have crystal bases as well. Other new lamps include a group of mercury glass items. In addition, the company really pushed into the mirror category at market.
Shaw emphasized its Tuftex division with a new display showcasing the custom capabilities available with the Tuftex broadloom line. Any of the Tuftex designs can be used, and the custom area rugs can have such borders as leather or fabric.
Nourison has expanded its indoor/outdoor category from one collection to four, including the South Beach group of vibrant floral designs. It has also added a number of colors to Rhapsody, a powerloomed group that is handwashed, handserged and handcarved.
Lamps and mirrors remain Uttermost’s largest categories, but “furniture is our fastest growing one,” said Scott Doyle, national sales manager. New furniture items include the Linford swivel chair. Uttermost has also grown its rug collection to 127 items with mixed materials.
Somerton Dwelling, formerly Somerton Furniture, showed seven new collections in a revamped showroom. The company’s Improv collection is made of interchangeable, modular pieces.
