NEW YORK-WestPoint Home has reached a license agreement with Portico Brand Group to produce a collection of eco-friendly and socially responsible luxury fashion bedding, bath textiles, robes and rugs for the retail market.
The line will be marketed under both the Portico and Under the Canopy brands. Under the Canopy was founded in 1996 by Marci Zaroff, who is now chief marketing and sustainability officer for Portico. Norm Savaria, president and CEO of WestPoint Home, said the agreement “will enable us to take our core competencies of design and strong manufacturing to a segment of the market who has been faced with a decision between fashion and environmental consciousness.”
Gregg Haft, Portico’s president, said the agreement will add “another level of distribution and authenticity to our overall mission at a time when we are seeing the tangible effects of living green in today’s public consciousness.”
