The trend presentation will be “AMAZED: a Visit to Ahhs,” which will be inspired by the 70th anniversary of the premiere of the film “The Wizard of Oz.” This will be a 4,000 square-foot trend installation on the top floor of the Suites at Market Square, created by designer Mike Farrell and featuring iconic images that illustrate the value of change and irony. Merchandise Mart Properties will sponsor the presentation, which will also encompass Showtime’s traditional Trend Bank and Eco-Trend Bank.
The panel discussion will mark the return of Breakfast at Showtime, and will be moderated by Eric Schneider, publisher of Fabrics & Furnishings International. The topic will be “Life After China: the Western Business Equation Changes Again.” The panelists will include Zack Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing for Valdese Weavers; Bob Choppa, vice president of Lexington Furniture; Charles Adams, chief sales officer of Victor Group; Jason Carr, principal of Softline Inc.; and Jane Roberts, director of upholstery merchandising of Thomasville Furniture. It will take place from 7 to 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, at the Spring & Splinter Club’s second-floor Tomlinson Room.
Other educational events include “Fashion to Frame: Interpreting the Trends for Maximum Sell-Through,” to be delivered by designer Jane Matteson at 10 a.m. on Dec. 7; and “Trendspotting,” to be presented by trend forecaster Ellen Gefen at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
There will be six new members of the International Textile Market Association that will be exhibiting at the upcoming Showtime: Atretis Fabrics, Holland & Sherry, Keystone Weaving Mills, Leather Apogee, Sanjarr (Image USA) and Yakar Tekstil Sanayi Ve Ticaret. Another new member, Kalin Devee Fabrics, will exhibit at Showtime in June 2010.
Showtime is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6 through Wednesday, Dec. 9.
