NEW YORK–Portico Home + Spa has renamed itself Portico Brand Group, and will seek to acquire brands that mirror its strategy to offer environmentally friendly and sustainable products to both retailers and the hospitality sector.
The company has already added such a brand to its portfolio—F.A.SE., a line of sustainable apparel. F.A.S.E.’s founder, Marci Zaroff, has joined Portico Brand Group as chief marketing and sustainability officer. Zaroff takes her place with the rest of the Portico executive team: Charles Schlang, CEO; Gregg Haft, president; and Megan Wiseman, brand director. In a statement, the company said additional brand acquisitions are pending.
Portfolio’s product line currently encompasses fashion and basic bedding, bath linens and personal-care products. Along with the acquisition of F.A.S.E., Portico is now headed toward adding infant bedding, women’s contemporary ready-to-wear, loungewear, exercise wear and children’s apparel to its product offerings.
Credited with trademarking the term ECOFASHION, Zaroff has served as a spokeswoman for sustainable fashions and textiles. The Portico statement said she has played a crucial role in defining U.S. and global standards for organic fiber processing, including the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and in developing the world’s first Fair Trade textiles certification.
