NEW YORK–The New York International Gift Fair, featuring more than 2,800 exhibiting companies offering design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware, opens today at the Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94 and tomorrow at the Jacob K. Javits Center here. The show runs through Feb. 2.
Many of the category-specific product neighborhoods will continue to grow and evolve for the winter market, with expansion of the new “On Trend” neighborhood in General Gift and a focus on housewares.
A full schedule of educational sessions and after-hours events will be offered, addressing color and design trends, sustainability, social media and retail strategies and other topics.
Tomorrow night the industry will gather at the Boathouse restaurant in Central Park for the Gift for Life’s 20th Anniversary Event, Party for Life 2012. Gift For Life awards will be presented to Jenny Hammons, George Kacik, Todd & Janetta Litzman and John C. Portman, Sr.
Gift & Home Textiles Market Week is also under way, at its traditional venues: the showroom buildings at 7 W New York and 230 Fifth Ave. in New York City. It is scheduled to run through Feb. 2 as well.
