NPD: Online Hits Double Digits in Home-Fashions Market Share



PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.–Online purchases accounted for 10 percent of all home-fashions dollar sales in the 12 months ending in November, according to new research from The NPD Group.

In its report, “What You Didn’t Know About Home Fashions,” NPD also said more money was spent on placemats than on tablecloths in the 12-month time frame, and that most of the tablecloths sold have a pattern or print. The majority of the kitchen and dining home fashions bought in that period were for a special occasion, with the majority of these being purchased for Christmas or Hanukkah.

White was the top selling color of the bedding purchased in this time frame, and most of the bedding sold was 100 percent cotton. In addition, more than 85 percent of all the home fashions were purchased by women.
