Las Vegas Market Opens Today



LAS VEGAS–The winter version of the Las Vegas Market opens today, featuring a new Gift+Home section with new and expanded showrooms, more high-end home decor suppliers and a completely updated categorization of temporary exhibits into 10 distinct, themed product sections. More than 70 exhibitors in furniture, home décor and gift will be hosting special ribbon cutting ceremonies over the next three days. The show runs through Feb. 1.

Here are some events/highlights scheduled for Monday:

The “Road to Emerald” is a special presentation at this Las Vegas Market, co-presented by Pantone and Houzz and inspired by Pantone’s color of the year. Located in the first floor of Building C, the showcase will feature three lifestyle concepts using products from current and future Las Vegas Market tenants, against the backdrop of recent Pantone color picks: Emerald, Tangerine Tango and Honeysuckle.

Designer Barry Dixon will be in the Arteriors showroom (B-360) until 2 p.m. today for a champagne reception to celebrate his new line.

Nova Lighting (A-355) is offering attendees complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres until 3:30 p.m. today in honor of its new winter collection.

From 3-5 p.m. today, Nourison (C-112) will host a book signing and party with Barclay Butera, and which will benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Kas Rugs (B-175) will have a ribbon cutting and party for its new showroom from 4-6 p.m. today. And Mohawk will celebrate the relaunch of its American Rug Craftsmen brand today starting at 4 p.m., in the Karastan showroom, C-312.

The Phillips Collection (A-202) will host its industry mixer from 4-6 p.m., allowing attendees to network and socialize.

From 4:30-6 p.m., AF Lighting (A-406) and designer Angelo Surmelis will host a party to launch his new colorful line with the company.

Every day of market, from 4-6 p.m., the floors of Gift + Home (C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8 and C9) and Furniture (A9, B2, B6, B7, B11, C14 and C15) will offer attendees cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. 

Tonight, from 6-8 p.m., the World Market Center’s opening night entertainment in the Grand Plaza will feature Latin and salsa music from the Trop Boom Band.

Las Vegas Market Opens Today



LAS VEGAS–Attendees descend on the World Market Center here today, as the summer edition of Las Vegas Market opens.

Even with temperatures in the 100-degree range, attendees are set to party as several events are planned for later today. From 4-6 p.m., Temper-Pedic will host a party in its showroom, C1512, and Twin-Star International will do the same in A548. Kathy Ireland will make an appearance at Omnia’s reception, in A256. The Sustainable Furniture Council will have a mixer in A202.

Beginning at 5 p.m., World Market Center will hold its first cocktail tweetup, where people who use Twitter can meet together offline. To be held in the HotSpot: Social Media Bar in Building C-1096, the event will include designers Christopher Lowell, Darryl Carter and HGTV’s Monica Pedersen.

The day ends with World Market Center Las Vegas’ second annual Alfresco, A Taste of Las Vegas, featuring local celebrity chefs. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Grand Plaza.

The Las Vegas Market runs Aug. 2-6.

Las Vegas Market Opens Today



LAS VEGAS–The winter edition of the Las Vegas Market is up and running.
The market, which takes place at the World Market Center here, runs from today until Friday, Feb. 5. Among the social events planned for today are a ribbon cutting at the Midwest/CBK showroom, C-999; parties at Global Views, room A-454, AICO featuring Jane Seymour in C-1601, AF Lighting in A-406, Sphinx/Oriental Weavers in B-580; and Kalco Lighting in A-950.
Also this afternoon, Natura World is holding a reception and a discussion panel on transparency in communications in the mattress industry, in its showroom in A-950. Tempur-Pedic is holding a reception this afternoon in C-1512, as is Surya in B-350. The day will wind up with the Alfresco Taste of Market at the World Market Center’s Grand Plaza.
Tomorrow morning, Seymour will appear again at the AICO showroom, and Kathy Ireland will make an appearance in the Pacific Coast Lighting showroom, C-1001. There are also receptions planned by Company C in B-348, Wools of New Zealand at the Venetian Hotel and Nourison in C-112. Later tomorrow afternoon, the Surfaces Show VIP Reception will take place at the Palazzo Hotel, and the Lantern Reception is scheduled in the World Market Center Grand Plaza. The Bedding Producers Reception will take place this evening at the World View on the 16th floor of Building B.
