HIGH POINT, N.C.—High Point Market opens today as the home furnishings industry reviews the season’s trends, styles and new designs in furniture, rugs, lighting and decorative accessories. The event runs through Thursday, April 25.
AF Lighting is returning to High Point Market with the opening of its 4,900-square-foot showroom, located in the International Home Furnishings Center space M430. To celebrate the opening, AF Lighting will host two designer events in the new space. Designer Candice Olson will be the guest of honor at a ribbon cutting today from 4-6 p.m. while designer Angelo Surmelis will be the special guest at a brunch on Sunday.
At Surya’s Showplace showroom today, Olson will give the presentation “Solving Your Design Challenges: A Conversation with Candice Olson” at 1:30 p.m. Then at 4 p.m., Surya ‘s president, Satya Tiwari will give a primer on rug basics. Among the company’s debuts this market is the new line with designer Kate Spain.
Capel will debut its new license with Coco, the interior designer behind the blog COCOCOZY. It’s hosting a special event for the new line on Monday afternoon. In its space in the Made in America Pavilion, Capel will have one of its artisans weaving small rug baskets for attendees to take home.
Feizy continues to celebrate its 40th year in business at market, which includes special anniversary collections.
The evening concludes with Carolina Stars, featuring a tasting menu from North Carolina wineries paired with Southern cuisine and accompanied by music from jazz fusion band Tizer. Doors open at 7 p.m. at Center Stage, between the Transportation Terminal and Showplace.
