LOS ANGELES–California Market Center has appointed Gerry Seibel to the newly created position of vice president of new business development for the CMC’s Gift, Home Décor and Design division.
CMC said it is committed to establishing its marketplace as the key destination for the gift and home décor trade on the West Coast. In recent months, showroom square footage has more than doubled in size, with several new showrooms. “It’s a critical time for the Gift & Home market in Los Angeles which has changed tremendously and has created many needs. The CMC is poised to fulfill these needs and to make a difference in the market’s current direction,” said Jaime Lee, president of the California Market Center. “Gerry Seibel is part of a team of experts we’re forming to solidify our position and redirect this industry.”
Seibel will work closely with Sue Bhanubandh, executive vice president of leasing, and will report to Lee. He has spent the last 20-plus years in leasing, marketing, and managing many gift and design centers. Most recently, he was director of leasing for the Las Vegas Design Center and Gift & Home at the World Market Center. At the L.A. Mart, Seibel served as vice president and general manager for six years, and he also served for 12 years as vice president of The Merchandise Mart in Chicago, leasing permanent and temporary showrooms in gift, apparel and residential furnishings.
“I am thrilled to join the team at the CMC,” said Seibel. “The California Market Center is in a unique position to capitalize on the current shifts within these industries and to create a world class facility that links the world of fashion apparel with gift and home furnishings. The CMC ownership is committed to realizing this vision and I am proud to be included in this goal.”
