CHICAGO-The Chicago Market, scheduled for July 19-25, has readied a lineup of seminars targeted at providing attendees with up-to-date information on trends in buying.

On July 21, Traci Tarquinio, director of merchandising for SnapRetail, will present “Selling Online: 6 Tips for Getting Started,” which will offer the pros and cons of various e-commerce options and the best practices for online selling. On July 22, Tarquinio will also host “A Perfect Match: Integrating Social Media & Email Marketing to Increase Foot Track,” which will provide information on creating a marketing plan using email and social media. Also on the 22nd, “Counter Intelligence,” detailing a plan for meeting competition from online and big-box retailers developed by Britton Marketing, will be presented by Britton Marketing’s Susan and Jeff Britton and Christy Spencer.

A panel discussion titled “Be a Better Buyer: Everything You Need to Know to Purchase Like a Pro,” offering tips on how retailers can make the most of their buying budgets, will take place on July 23. Also on that day, Diane Falanga, author of “P.S. I Hate It Here” and “P.S.: I Still Hate It Here”—two collections of children’s letters from summer camp—will speak on the basics of partnering with local retailers to sell books and sign copies of the latter book in “Partnering with Local Authors: A Winning Story.”
