ESSEN, Germany–The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 winners were presented last week at a gala event here. Seventy-two entries received the highest award of the Red Dot: Best of the Best, 1,120 products were awarded a Red Dot for outstanding product design and 123 works were given an honorable mention.
In the tableware and cooking utensils category, winners included: Le Creuset (for its Le Creuset sauté pan), Pollen Design (for its Evak food storage), Universal Expert (for both its cooking and preparation collection and its share and serve collection), Kyocera (for its Japanese ceramic kitchen knives series), Bodum AG (for both its Bistro slicer and shredder set and its Bistro rolling pin), Kuhn Rikon (for its Ratchet Grater) and Fusionbrands (for its Grill Comb).
In the kitchen appliances and kitchen furnishings category, winners included Joseph Joseph (for its Edge glass brush) and the Breville Group (for its Oracle espresso maker). Sonneman won an award in the lighting and lamps category for its Quattro LED task lamp, and Roche Bobois received an award in living rooms and bedrooms category for its Ora-ito Table.
In the households category, winners included Full Circle Home (for its Fresh Air kitchen compost collection), iRobot (for both its iRobot Scooba 450 and iRobot Roomba 880) and Electrolux (for its Rapido handheld vacuum cleaner).
Other awards included the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2014, which was given to the 45-year-old Veryday.
This year’s competition received a record number of 4,815 entries. The Red Dot jury, comprised of 40 experts, assessed the works in the spring.
