ROSEMONT, Ill.–Attendees at the International Housewares Association’s 12th Annual Housewares Charity Foundation Gala are in for a treat, as the evening’s food will be prepared by a number of James Beard award winning chefs from Chicago. Grant Achatz of Alinea; Rick and Deann Bayless of Frontera Grill and Topolobampo; Paul Kahan of Blackbird, avec and The Publican; Tony Mantuano of Spiaggia; Bruce Sherman of North Pond; and Art Smith of Table Fifty-Two will prepare their signature dishes for the event, scheduled for Monday, March 23, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception hosted by the Sheraton’s executive chef John DiMartini, along with Achatz. Then for dinner, the ballroom will be divided into four sections, each with its own three-course menu served simultaneously as Bayless, Kahan, Mantuano and Sherman prepare special appetizers and entrees. Attendees won’t know which chef is preparing their food until they are seated. And then Smith will finish the dinner with his dessert for everyone.
Benefiting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the gala event will honor Timothy Adams, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s Home Store, with the Lifetime Humanitarian award, and Lyn Kirby, president and chief executive officer of Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, with the Creativity Leadership Award.
