WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—The winter edition of the New York International Gift Fair will feature expansions with new divisions and the continued refinement of existing categories, as part of the first phase of a three-year strategic reorganization of the show.
Among the highlights of the winter show, according to a statement from GLM, owner and manager of NYIGF, will be an expansion of Baby & Child, the juried juvenile-products division, to present an estimated 150 suppliers of products targeted at children aged from 0 to 10. Included in this extension is a new “Peek-A-Boo” display, which will preview new gear, decor, accessories and wearables. New York’s Newest, the division featuring new exhibitors, will expand at its location in Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 92, in New York City, to showcase some 250 newcomers.
GLM also said further refinements are planned for the Handmade division, following the reorganization during the summer 2010 NYIGF into Handmade Designer Maker and Handmade Global Design. The Stationery and Publishers area, which debuted at the summer show, will also be expanded for the winter NYIGF.
The Licensing Gallery at NYIGF—an annual business-to-business forum comprised of individual artists, designers, licensing agents and design studios—will return to the winter Gift Fair with 30-plus participants. So will the SustainAbility: design for a better world display, with eco-friendly and socially responsible gifts and home products.
Along with Pier 92, the Gift Fair will take place at Pier 94 of the Passenger Ship Terminal and at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, from Jan. 29 through Feb. 3.
