WASHINGTON-Online home retailer Wayfair finished number two on Stores magazine’s 2014 list of the nation’s fastest-growing retailers.
The company’s sales for 2013, which totaled $915 million, were 52.5 percent ahead of its sales for 2012, according to the list compiled by the magazine, which is a publication of the National Retail Federation. Finishing fourth on the list is Conn’s, whose 2013 sales rose 39.2 percent to $904 million. Amazon’s 2013 sales, which increased 27.2 percent to $44 billion, placed it 10th on the list.
Number one on the list is the grocery retailer Albertsons, with $19.5 billion in 2013 sales or 432.7 percent above sales for 2012.
According to an NRF statement on the list, “A revitalized housing market has helped the home furnishings sector in recent years as consumers are once again investing in their homes.”
The list was prepared for the magazine by consulting firm Kantar Retail.
