BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Walmart is kicking off August with special back-to-school deals geared toward college students looking for top electronics, dorm décor and other school essentials.
The mass retailer said its rollbacks and special buys are timed to the start of sales tax holidays in select states and at a time that data shows a spike in customers shopping online for back-to-school items.
Many of today’s deals are on electronic items like laptops, LED televisions and Xbox One consoles. Walmart will also offer “Cyber Monday”deals on Aug. 4 with average savings of 35 percent and up to 60 percent on certain items, according to the retailer.
“Last year we broke records with our first back-to-school Cyber Monday event – it was our biggest Walmart.com sales day outside of the holiday season and we’re making it even bigger this year with more than 30 percent additional back-to-school items at great prices,” said Kelly Thompson, senior vice president of merchandising for Walmart.com.
Among the home furnishings Cyber Monday deals are a five-piece bed-in-a-bag for $39 and a Magic Chef microwave for $49.
