Target Launches Year-Round Price-Match Program for Online

MINNEAPOLIS-Target has debuted a program with which it will price-match top online retailers year round.

The program will match the prices on merchandise found on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Bestbuy.com and Toysrus.com (including Babiesrus.com). Target stores will also price-match items found on Target.com. If a shopper buys a qualifying item at a Target store and then finds the identical product for less in the following week’s circular or within seven days on any of these websites or a local competitor’s printed advertisement, Target will match the price, the retailer said in a statement.

Gregg Steinhafel, Target’s chairman, president and CEO, said, “We know that our guests often compare prices online.” Steinhafel added that Target now provides “an unbeatable value” when combining the price-match policy with the additional 5 percent savings shoppers receive by using the company’s REDcard.

Target introduced its first price-match policy, the Low Price Promise, in 2009, and began matching select online competitors for the first time during the holiday season just past. A price match can be requested at Target’s Guest Services prior to a purchase with proof of current price or by bringing the original Target receipt and proof of current price.
