GREEN BAY, Wis.-Jill Soltau, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Shopko, has been promoted to president.
Soltau retains her title as chief merchandising officer, and continues to oversee the retailer’s merchandising and product development while assuming charge over marketing, e-commerce, inventory management and the supply chain. She reports to Mike Bettiga, interim CEO and chief operating officer, and succeeds W. Paul Jones, who left Shopko in October to become CEO of Payless Holdings.
According to a Shopko statement, Soltau’s new responsibilities will allow her to continue her focus on the development and implementation of the retailer’s merchandising strategy across all of its formats—Shopko, Shopko Hometown and shopko.com—while also bringing together branding and marketing strategy under her direction.
Soltau joined Shopko in 2007 as senior vice president and general merchandise manager of apparel and accessories. She was promoted to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer two years later. She began her retailing career with Carson Pirie Scott, and later held senior positions in merchandising, planning and private branding at Sears and Kohl’s.
