WEST CHESTER, Pa.-QVC said it plans to expand its presence into France with the launch of a new service scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.
The company’s French-language video and e-commerce offering will be produced in France by a local team, and will be available online, on mobile devices (including iPhones, iPads, Android smart phones and Android tablets) and on major satellite television, cable TV and Internet protocol TV. Product offerings will come from consumer businesses of all sizes, and will include French brands, global brands and new, smaller brands.
A QVC statement said the company will offer “a highly immersive digital shopping experience, with strong integration across e-commerce, TV, mobile and social platforms.” The statement added that its broadcasts now reach more than 300 million homes worldwide, and its e-commerce sites received nearly 800 million visits in 2013.
“As the second largest economy in the European Union, with a robust e-commerce sector and solid digital infrastructure, France offers a strong opportunity for QVC,” said Mike George, the company’s president and CEO. George added that QVC’s formula of re-imagining shopping, entertainment and social as one, “in addition to QVC’s stellar customer service, will hold great appeal for French shoppers.”
