NEW YORK—The National Retail Federation’s Annual Convention, which is taking place this week at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center here, is celebrating the association’s 100th anniversary.
In recognition of the event, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has proclaimed the period from Jan. 8-12 National Retail Week in New York City. More than 18,500 attendees and 600 exhibiting companies are at the show. According to NRF, retailer registration is up 20 percent over last year’s convention, and the attendees include 45 international delegations from 16 countries.
This year’s convention also features an application for phones through which attendees can search through the show’s agenda, view the floor layout and use streaming social media. The latter includes a Twitter board that is streaming tweets from attendees and speakers.
