Maxell has partnered with Wearable Inc. to distribute AirStash, a pocket-sized wireless flash drive that is compatible with the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The first of its kind, AirStash offers media streaming and two-way wireless document transfer community. AirStash works with a standard USB connection, eliminating the need for a special cable or a power adapter. It allows users to work with documents and media on their iPad without having to email them between devices, and it’s compatible with popular apps like Apple’s iWork suite and GoodReader for iOS. It retails for around $150.
Maxell and Wearable plan to follow up at a later date with second-generation AirStash products bundled with Maxell flash memory. These will be available at retail, online and in business-to-business channels.
In other Maxell news, the company recently unveiled the SSB-1 Soundbar Speaker, a tabletop unit that requires no mounting or installation, and can support a television or monitor up to 55 pounds. The Soundbar Speaker has two 3.5mm aux jacks and works not only with TV but also iPod, iPhone, iPad and MP3 players. It comes with a remote control and cables for easy set up, and it offers 2.1 channels, 30 watts of power and a built-in subwoofer. The Maxell SSB-1 Soundbar speaker retails for $129.99.
