NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Third-quarter sales for specialty retailer Kirkland’s picked up 4.7 percent to finish at $97.1 million, according to a preliminary report from the company.
The results for the quarter, which ended on Oct. 29, included a same-store sales decline of 3.6 percent. Kirkland’s opened 13 stores and closed six in the quarter, bringing its total store count to 301.
The retailer said it now expects to report earnings per share of 3 cents to 5 cents for the quarter, compared to a mid-August projection of a small loss. Kirkland’s will issue a full report on its third quarter on Nov. 18.
