OMAHA, Neb.–Online home furnishings retailer Hayneedle.com, through a partnership with Google, has added Google Search Appliance to its shopping site.
“With more than 600 million custom furniture combinations now available at hayneedle.com, we need a powerful search engine that helps us fulfill our commitment to providing the best online shopping experience in the industry,” said Brian Moen, Hayneedle’s chief marketing officer. “Thanks to Google we now have a custom platform that thinks the way our customers search. That means we can customize landing locations for customers’ product searches to include their favorite products and brands in the results. We’re also applying custom synonym and misspelling functions to help customers find products even if they don’t type in the correct search term.”
The Google Search Appliance (GSA) takes the search experience shared by millions of people across the globe at google.com and harnesses it for the specific search needs of hayneedle.com customers. The new partnership will turn Hayneedle’s search engine into a system “as relevant and reliable as Google’s – with the same ease of use,” according to a statement from Hayneedle.
Since launching Google Search, Hayneedle has experienced growth of more than 20 percent in revenue per search with a 12 percent conversion lift, the company said.
