ATLANTA-Havertys logged second-quarter sales of $171.9 million, an increase of 12.9 percent, according to a preliminary report on the quarter which ended on June 30.
The rise in sales included a pickup of 11.2 percent in same-store sales. The quarter’s sales total brought sales for the year’s first six months to $357.2 million, up 13.4 percent over the same period of last year and including a same-store sales increase of 11.3 percent.
“The execution of our merchandising and marketing strategies continues to deliver solid sales growth and market-share gains,” said Clarence Smith, Havertys’ chairman, president and CEO. Smith added that the company benefited from gains in store traffic and average ticket compared to last year. “We believe the sustained increases in home sales and home prices are important drivers of the retail home furnishings business in the near and long term,” he said.
