BENTONVILLE, Ark.–Walmart has promoted Cindy Davis to executive vice president of global consumer insights, a new department in the company.
As head of this new team, Davis is responsible for helping both Walmart and Sam’s Club understand broad consumer trends, providing insights into customers needs throughout the world and creating advanced analytical tools to support the business of both segments of the company. She reports to Brian Cornell, president and chief executive officer of Sam’s Club.
Davis joined Sam’s Club in 2007 as senior vice president of membership and marketing. She was named executive vice president in the following year and added the e-commerce function to her responsibilities.
Prior to coming to Sam’s Club, Davis held executive posts in brand-building and customer-relationship functions with Harrah’s Entertainment, Starwood and Promus Hotels (now Hilton Hotels), and Pizza Hut. She also held positions with agencies BBDO, Tracy-Locke and Rapp Collins Worldwide.
