MINNEAPOLIS–Target has promoted Casey Carl to the newly created positions of president of multichannel and senior vice president of merchandising.
Carl now oversees all of Target’s multichannel operations, including mobile applications, social-media efforts and target.com. This represents a realignment of the multichannel sector, according to a Target spokeswoman, in which Carl is assuming some of the responsibilities held by Steve Eastman, former president of Target.com, who left the retailer in October. He reports to Kathee Tesija, executive vice president of merchandising.
In addition, Carl maintains his responsibilities over Target’s entertainment, toys, sporting-goods and electronics businesses. The spokeswoman said these categories have experienced strong growth in online sales.
Carl joined Target in 1997. Most recently, he was senior vice president of hardlines and was a co-lead on the retailer’s multichannel steering committee.
