CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Belk Inc. has promoted Jan Clevenger to executive vice president and general merchandise manager of men’s, home and kids, and has named David Luoma as chair of its Belk Western Division.
The promotion of Clevenger puts her in charge of merchandising for those three areas, and she reports to David Zant, recently named president and chief merchandising officer, whom she is succeeding in her new role. Clevenger joined Belk in 2000 as division merchandise manager for accessories in its Southern Division, and rose to divisional merchandise manager of men’s sportswear in 2002. She then became vice president and divisional merchandise manager for this segment in 2003, and was appointed senior vice president and director of stores the Belk Northern Division in 2006.
Clevenger was promoted to chair of the Belk Western Division in March 2008. Luoma is succeeding her in his new post and reports to John Belk, president and chief operating officer. He joined Belk as senior vice president and director of stores in the Southern Division in 2011.
Prior to coming to Belk, Luoma served in executive roles for both Macy’s and May Department Stores.
