BENTONVILLE, Ark.–Walmart has picked Neil Ashe as its president and CEO of Global eCommerce, thus placing him in charge of the retailer’s e-commerce initiatives throughout the world.

Ashe is succeeding Eduardo Castro-Wright, Walmart’s vice chairman, who announced his pending retirement in September and who will help in the transition.

Before joining Walmart, Ashe was president of CBS Interactive, where he led all online properties and drove development of new ways to distribute CBS programming. Prior to this, he was CEO of CNET Networks, which eventually became part of CBS.
