Agnefjäll Named to Lead Ikea; Ohlsson to Step Down

HELSINGBORD, Sweden-The Ikea Group has named Peter Agnefjäll vice president and positioned him to succeed Mikael Ohlsson as president and CEO when Ohlsson steps down on Sept. 1, 2013.

Ohlsson, a 34-year veteran of the home furnishings retailer, told the board that he will leave his current post next year. Goran Grosskopf, chairman of Ikea parent Ingka Holding BV, credited Ohlsson with leading the company to “strong development” during a difficult economic environment. “The current Ikea business direction, which covers the years until 2020, remains in place,” Grosskopf said. “Peter will continue to build on Mikael’s accomplishments, and the solid introduction will allow him to prepare in the best possible way for his coming responsibilities.”

Agnefjäll, currently country manager of Ikea Sweden, has been with the retailer since 1995. He has held other leadership positions with the retailer both in Sweden and internationally.
