Thermador
“Luxury-class cooking power” is the promise offered by Thermador’s new Built-in MicroDrawer Microwave. The product boasts cavity space of 1.2 cubic feet and perfect flush installation capability for a standard depth cabinet that eliminates the need for an additional installation kit, and that also reduces cluttered countertops and thus enhances the whole cooking experience. It incorporates microwave sensor technology, which erases the need to remove the dish from the oven to check, stir or turn the food—thus helping to eliminate the guesswork that’s often involved with cooking and reheating. It provides 10 cooking modes (more than any other microwave in the luxury segment, Thermador said) and easy-to-use touch controls. In addition, the large viewing window gives the Built-in MicroDrawer a sleek and sophisticated appearance that fits in with any luxury kitchen decor. thermador.com
Fagor America
The Fagor Slow Juicer is the latest addition to the company’s family of small electrics. The new product gently and precisely extracts the maximum amount of juice from fruits, vegetables or leafy greens, while preserving more of the natural vitamins and antioxidants to create a highly nutritious beverage. It uses a two-step process in which the juice from the fruit or vegetable is extracted twice before it enters the glass. The auger, which is the unit’s main component, squeezes the food without shredding or grinding it, which helps to get more juice in the glass. It’s also easily cleaned by simply pouring water into the unit, or by disassembling it for a more thorough cleaning. fagoramerica.com
Dansk
Dansk has relaunched Kobenstyle, an enamel-on-steel cookware collection first designed by Jens Quistgaard in 1956. The collection exited the U.S. market abut 15 years ago, but the company, sensing a void in the segment as more manufacturers vie for the cast-iron market, has brought back the original design. The cookware’s most distinctive feature is its spider handle, a criss-cross design raised high enough above the surface of the cover that it can double as a trivet. The cookware is appropriate for all cooktops, including induction, and is oven-safe. It comes in three colors: chili red, white and midnight blue. “It’s a way to bring in high design and color,” said Glenn DeStefano, president of Dansk. Price points range from $40 to $120 for eight different styles. dansk.com
Chicago Cutlery
Chicago Cutlery will launch a new premium cutlery collection, DesignPro, in August. The blade is made of Japanese steel for extra sharpness and the bolster has laser-etched dots that guide the user’s hand to the best position on the knife for better control and cutting. “Through research and conversations with culinary professionals, our innovation team observed that chefs hold the blade of the knife close to the handle to maximize their control and speed when chopping foods,” said Sindhu Ramana, Chicago Cutlery brand manager. “However, everyday consumers are not comfortable holding a knife so close to the blade. As a result, Chicago Cutlery designed a knife that allows consumers to experience the same control as professional chefs and alleviate their concern about holding the blade. It’s a more approachable way to maximize control and have a more efficient chopping experience.” The DesignPro knives will be the first affordable, premium offering from Chicago Cutlery. DesignPro is available in chef, santoku, bread, utility, partoku and parer styles that range in price from $19.99 to $33.99, and has a full lifetime warranty. Initially, DesignPro will be available at a few online sites, and Chicago Cutlery will look to gain distribution at department stores and specialty stores. chicagocutlery.com
iSi
Consumers can now carbonate all their favorite drinks with iSi’s Twist ’n Sparkle direct carbonation system, which has a wand that inserts carbonation directly into any beverage without diluting it with seltzer or soda water. Recyclable and reusable, the Twist ’n Sparkle is easy to use. The consumer fills the BPA-free bottle to the fill level with any beverage, and then inserts an iSi Sparklets soda charger into the chamber of the sparkling wand’s handle. The sparkling wand is then placed into the bottle, and the consumer twists the bottle clockwise until she sees and hears the bubbles release. After a minute for full carbonation, the beverage is ready to drink. The Twist ’n Sparkle starter set comes with a reusable bottle, a sparkling wand, three Sparklets CO2 soda chargers, a replaceable cap and an inspirational recipe booklet for $49.95. A set of two reusable bottles are also available for $29.95 and 24 Sparklet soda chargers for $19.95. twistnsparkle.com
