At High Point, Surya expanded what it calls its ultra textures and shags group, which included Longfellow, an extra-long, felted wool shag, with each strand measuring five inches long. “You almost wade through it,” said Al Mortensen, vice president, merchandising and product development. “Many of our customers who would select an item like Longfellow need products that “wow” the end consumer.” The Longfellow is multi-colored in all-natural wool. “I think trying these ultra textures makes a small retailer seem edgy and cool and keeps customers coming back to see what they’ll do next,” he said. “We love providing these types of products to these customers.” surya.com

The llama fiber used in this collection is “a strong fiber and it has a sheen to it so it looks and feels more beautiful in a flat woven rug. There is a luxuriousness to it,” said Anne Schewe, owner and president. “Peru is known for its weaving and especially for flat weave rugs.
