NEW YORK–GLM and the International Housewares Association have ended their discussions to possibly work together on housewares-oriented shows, according to a joint statement. Meanwhile, GLM announced it is moving its Gourmet Housewares Show to January 2011, where it will become an annual section of the Winter New York International Gift Fair.
There will not be a Gourmet Housewares Show in San Francisco in summer 2010, as previously planned.
GLM released a separate statement today announcing that the Gourmet Housewares Show will move to New York City in January 2011, as part of the New York International Gift Fair.
“The Gourmet Housewares Show has always appealed to buyers who understand their customers’ passion for food and entertaining,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “This profile applies to NYIGF’s gift, home and gourmet specialty attendees as well.”
The move will bring 150 new exhibitors offering gourmet housewares, cookware and specialty foods to the NYIGF, complementing the fair’s existing Tabletop & Housewares division.
In addition, the new timing will offer “advantageous first quarter timing and expanded cross-marketing opportunities to benefit both retailers and vendors and, with NYIGF’s semi-annual timing, affords a third quarter market opportunity for interested exhibitors,” Belshaw added. “Exhibitors gain access to an exponentially larger attendee base than ever before, and buyers benefit from the influx of gourmet resources alongside NYIGF’s existing and unparalleled gift, tabletop and home offerings.”
The Gourmet Housewares Show has moved cities and time periods over the last few years. It has taken place in Las Vegas, Orlando, and most recently, San Francisco.
