WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–The Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA) will present a seminar at the winter New York International Gift Fair on forming relationships between buyers and sellers of art and design.
Titled “Matchmaking: Keys to Finding the Right Licensing Partner,” the session is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in room 1E04 of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, one of the gift fair’s venues. It will be offered in tandem with the debut of The Licensing Gallery @ NYIGF, a new feature of the gift fair that is intended to connect surface designers, artists and licensing agents with gift- and home-products manufacturers.
The seminar will be led by Marty Brochstein, LIMA’s senior vice president of industry relations and information; Christopher Ahlgrim, president and chief executive officer of Bergen-Wild, an art-licensing agency; and David Niggli, consultant on retail, branding, licensing and merchandising. It will present information on how best to evaluate a potential licensing partner, how to create a vision for a licensing program, how to legally protect a licensed property, how to find and contact an appropriate manufacturer, and what to know when hiring an agent.
