NEW YORK–George Bardwil, owner of Bardwil Linens, has been arrested for assaulting a housekeeper at his apartment here, according to published reports.
Bardwil was charged with third-degree assault on his maid, after allegedly hitting her head with a heavy metal ashtray, the reports said. Later, he reportedly said he feared that the maid was stealing from him.
Bardwil Linens was founded by George Bardwil’s grandfather and grand uncle in the early 1900s. Bardwil took the reigns of the company in 1990, succeeding his father, Elias. When Elias Bardwil died in 2000, Bardwil inherited the company.
