BENTON HARBOR, Mich.–Whirlpool has received the American Institute of Architects’ Continuing Education System Award for Excellence.
The company is the first appliance manufacturer to win this honor, according to a Whirlpool statement. Given annually, the award recognizes educational providers for their commitment to high-quality and professional continuing education courses for architects. To focus on architects and designers in the home-building industry, Whirlpool formed the Design & Development Group, which features staff architects and helps develop courses on specifying appliances for a sustainable home.
This course includes information on the sustainable design features of appliances, and how they qualify for national “green” home certification programs, such as Energy Star.
