WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York has officially proclaimed the two weeks for next year’s New York International Gift Fairs as “Home Textiles Market Weeks.”
The proclamation covers the two weeks of the gift fairs—Jan. 23 to 29 and Aug. 14 to 20. According to a statement from GLM, the show’s owner and manager, Bloomberg cited the fact that the gift fairs offer “the most comprehensive selection of home-textiles products found at any U.S. market,” making New York City “an essential destination” for the vendors that exhibit at the gift fairs and the retailers that attend them.
In the GLM statement, Penny Sikalis, vice president of GLM, said the market weeks are “a valuable resource for independent specialty retailers and better home-textiles suppliers, and it is wonderful to have similar recognition from the city.”
