NEW YORK–Pendleton Woolen Mills has inaugurated the celebration of its 100th anniversary in business.
At an event this morning at Tavern on the Green here, the company officially debuted its “Weaving America’s Spirit Since 1909” campaign, which will carry into Pendleton’s actual anniversary in February and last through the rest of next year. Pendleton displayed commemorative home and apparel products at the event, and announced that it will receive the “Flame of Hope Award” from the American Indian College Fund this evening, for its efforts in raising funds for that organization, which benefits Native American college students.
The new line that will commemorate the anniversary is the Centennial collection, which consists of contemporary interpretations of iconic Pendleton products in home furnishings and men’s and women’s apparel.
Pendleton opened in 1909 in Pendleton, Ore., founded by the Bishop family, which still owns and operates the business.
