OAKBROOK, Ill.–Textiles manufacturer 1888 Mills has broadened the reach of its kitchen textiles category through the widespread distribution of its Clorox FreshCare Towels.
The antimicrobial towel line, the result of a patented coating that binds household bleach to textiles made of cotton, is now available at Wal-Mart and will roll out to retailers nationwide next spring. It launches officially at the New York Home Fashions Market next month.
“We believe that the Clorox brand combined with Halo Shield technology gives the consumer a timely and unique attribute that clearly fits our brand purpose of ‘Weaving a Better World,’ ” said Fulton Allen, president of the company’s consumer products division, in a statement.
Antimicrobial protection of the towel is reactivated every time the product is washed with Clorox regular bleach and lasts the lifetime of the product. The coating, combined with the bleach, inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the towel or dishcloth.
