NEW YORK–The Conran Shop in New York is extending its iconic take on contemporary home furnishings to the city’s commercial and residential markets with Conran Contract, a new division.
Conran Contract will target a broad swath of businesses, from corporate offices to restaurants, hotels, museums and airports, as well as residential buildings, to be its furniture and lighting resource. Other home goods could later follow suit.
“New York remains in a period of unprecedented [building] growth,” Will Tadros, contract sales manager, USA, for The Conran Shop, said at a press breakfast here at the Manhattan store. “There are a huge number of new buildings.” Last year alone, 7,000 new buildings were erected in the city, he said.
“We’re going to position ourselves as a complete design resource” for the New York market.
The retailer, a part of Terence Conran’s The Conran Group, already operates contract businesses in Paris and London, where Conran’s also has retail stores, executives said. Recent projects include outfitting designer Tom Ford’s Milan showroom.
To supply the new division, The Conran Shop will tap into its portfolio of more than 60 suppliers in 14 countries.
