SAN ANTONIO–Motif Modern Living, an award-winning contemporary furniture store, has opened a new loftlike flagship store at the Legacy shopping center here.
The store features Motif’s signature organic contemporary furniture in an open and airy setting, with soaring ceilings and transparent water walls. The 2-year-old retailer also unveiled Motif Studio, a new source for ultra-modern style, in an adjacent space. Accessed by a dramatic circular pass-through, Motif Studio promises to offer “the latest designs from top designers of Europe and the Americas, as well as fresh twists on midcentury modern classics,” according to a statement from the company.
The retailer also maintains an outlet store in its home base of Kyle, Texas, just outside Austin. That store carries elements of both lines, plus discontinued items and promotional pieces that aren’t available in San Antonio. Additionally, the company operates a Web business, motiffurniture.com.
Motif has won praise regionally and nationally: In 2006, its Web site was nominated for a Webby Award for its function and design, and in 2007, Motif Modern Living was one of five stores nationwide nominated as a “Rising Star Retailer” by the Dallas Market Center and Accessories Resource Team at the ARTS Awards. This year, Motif was named Umbra’s “Retail Partner of the Year.”
