NEW DELHI, India–The India Carpet Expo is set to take place March 2 through 5 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, followed by an exhibition and Buyer-Seller-Meet on March 6 and 7 at the SMS Convention Centre, Hotel Ram Bagh Palace, in Jaipur.
The Union Minister of Commerce, Shri Kamal Nath, is scheduled to inaugurate the Expo here and additional government officials, including the Minister of Textiles, are expected to turn out in support of the event.
Shri Ashok Jain, chairman of the Carpet Export Promotion Council, said the two events are the largest organized shows India has hosted for the carpet industry. At press time, more than 300 overseas carpet buyers had registered and 155 exhibitors had booked space on the show’s floor.
The Buyer-Seller-Meet is also being organized by the CEPC.
A package of benefits is being provided to attract international buyers, including an allotment for airfare and free hotel accommodations for two nights in New Delhi and Jaipur.
The events have been timed to coincide with the Tex-Styles India Fair, hosted by the India Trade Promotion Organisation, in an effort to draw an even larger crowd.
