NEW YORK–ABC Carpet & Home has introduced a technology-driven line to its contemporary gallery of rugs. The Parentesiquadra Collection, also known as the PQ Collection, is a group of laser-cut, Italian leather and cowhide rugs that are embossed and hand-worked.
The process combines modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, manipulating the hides with a series of laser methods that emboss and cut the medium to produce intricate textural motifs. Artisans then hand-paint, foil and dye the hide to complete each piece.
The technology itself is patented by Parentesiquadra, the Tuscany, Italy-based company established in 1998. ABC Carpet & Home is the exclusive U.S. retailer of the PQ Rug Collection.
