Whirlpool Launches Online Tool for Rebate Program

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.—Whirlpool has introduced a rebate finder tool on three of its brand Web sites—Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid.
The appliances giant has created the tool to help consumers navigate and make the most of the federal “Cash for Appliances” rebate program, the company said in a statement. Consumers who enter their local zip code and an appliance type into the tool receive information on the amount of applicable state rebates that are available to them. Also, the rebate finder will provide information on rebates from a consumer’s local utility company, if these are available.
“Cash for Appliances” is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed last year, and provides nearly $300 million from the U.S. Department of Energy for state-run rebate programs for consumer purchases of new Energy Star-qualified appliances. Whirlpool said many states offer “generous” rebates for qualified washers, dishwashers and refrigerators.
