Conrad Elected President of ASFD

HIGH POINT, N.C.–The Powell Company’s John Conrad was named the president of the American Society of Furniture Designers at a recent meeting of the nonprofit organization.

Conrad has served on ASFD’s board since 2008. He succeeds Dudley Moore, Jr., of Otto & Moore. Moore will serve as ASFD chairman for the next two years.

New directors to the board are C.J. Grudzinskas, Catina Unlimited; Timothy O’Hare, H. Thomas Keller Associates; and Katy Skelton, Katy Skelton, LLC.

DMC Names Marcum EVP Finance

DALLAS–Dallas Market Center has promoted Cherie Marcum, its vice president of finance, to executive vice president of finance at Dallas Market Center. Marcum is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial processes, audits and budgeting system.

PureCare by Fabrictech Names Robb VP, GM

FAIRFIELD, N.J.-James Robb had been appointed vice president and general manager of PureCare by Fabrictech.

In this position, a new one for the company and the brand, Robb is responsible for key infrastructure needs and upgrading systems to serve the PureCare customer base. He reports to Jeff Bergman, president and chief operating officer, and Arnold Hershbain, chairman and CEO. PureCare is Fabrictech’s brand for protectors, toppers and pillows, designed to create a healthy sleep environment.

Davis Named Rue La La CEO

BOSTON-Rue La La has added the title of CEO to Steve Davis, who is the online retailer’s president.

Davis succeeds Ben Fischman, who founded Rue La La in 2008 and who is stepping down from this role. Davis has been president since 2010.  Michael Rubin, the company’s chairman, remains in that post.

Fischman said, “We founded Rue La La five years ago to offer consumers the most engaging online retail experience, and I leave the company in the hands of Steve and a brilliant team who share and will continue in that vision.”

Gibson, Supply Chain EVP for Family Dollar, Leaves

MATTHEWS, N.C.-Charles Gibson, executive vice president of supply chain for Family Dollar, has left the retailer to pursue other interests, effective today.

A successor has not been announced. According to a Family Dollar spokesman, those executives who had been reporting to Gibson will report to Michael Bloom, president and chief operating officer, until a successor is named.

CIT Appoints Harrington Regional Sales Manager

Harrington reports to Marc Heller, northeast regional manager and international manager of CIT Trade Finance.

Previously, Harrington was managing director and chief sales officer for CIT’s Small Business Lending Group.

NORCROSS, Ga.-Jack Johnson has been named vice president of sales and marketing at Jaipur Rugs, reporting to Asha Chaudhary, CEO. He is based in Atlanta and succeeds Josh Roberts.
 
Most recently Johnson was at Stein World, where he held the same position. Having been in the home furnishings field since 1986, he has also held positions at Sealy Mattress and Bassett Furniture.

Evanson Tabbed to Lead HR at J.C. Penney

PLANO, Texas-J.C. Penney has promoted Brynn Evanson to executive vice president of human resources.

Evanson has assumed responsibility over all of the retailer’s human-resource functions across the stores, the supply chain and the home office, including team member relations, recruiting, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and talent operations. She has joined J.C. Penney’s executive board and reports directly to Myron Ullman III, CEO.

Evanson has succeeded Daniel Walker, who left as chief talent officer last week.

Leonard to Become Groupe SEB Sr. EVP of Finance

ECULLY CEDEX, France-Groupe SEB has named Vincent Leonard to become senior executive vice president in charge of finance.

Leonard will assume his new role on June 1, and will succeed Jean-Pierre Lac, who will retire on that date. He will oversee the housewares giant’s finances and report directly to Thierry de La Tour d’Artaise, chairman and CEO.
