ARCHDALE, N.C.–Dr. Robert Addison, who has been called the “father” of the original Sealy Posturepedic mattress, has been honored by the manufacturer.
At a recent ceremony at the Sealy headquarters, Addison received a plaque in recognition of his research and contributions to Sealy’s product development. The original Posturepedic mattress made its debut at retail in 1950. Currently, Addison serves on Sealy’s Orthopedic Advisory Board, which was formed in 2006.
In praising Addison’s contributions, Alan Letton, Sealy’s chief science officer and vice president of research and technology innovation, added that the Orthopedic Advisory Board also had a major hand in developing the company’s latest Posturepedic line. The new products are designed to eliminate tossing and turning caused by pressure points, according to a Sealy statement.
