BOSTON-Tempur-Pedic has opened its first retail flagship store in this area, featuring the company’s full product line of mattresses and bed pillows.
The store takes up 3,500 square feet in the Natick Mall in Natick, Mass. It is designed as what a company statement described as a “no-pressure sales environment,” with an array of “micro-bedroom areas,” with 12 beds grouped by collection and with a view to making it easy for shoppers to browse and compare mattresses. Also part of the layout is a pillow bar, which allows shopper to select pillows based on personal preference.
A focal point of the new store, the statement said, is an 11-foot-10-inch-high by 11-foot-6-inch-wide Tempur wall, where shoppers can interact with the different materials and learn more about the uniqueness of Tempur-Pedic’s products.
Patrice Varni, Tempur-Pedic’s vice president of direct-to-consumer sales and marketing, said the store is “a logical next step” in the company’s strategy of engaging directly with consumers.
The statement added that Tempur-Pedic will open a second store later this year in the Kenwood Mall near Cincinnati. The company also plans to open “a handful” of other flagship stores across the nation during the next year.
