ATLANTA—Tony Smith has been named president of Simmons’ U.S. Sales and Simmons Canada.
Smith assumes charge over all of the mattress manufacturer’s sales functions and the Canadian unit, and reports directly to Gary Fazio, who became chief executive officer of Simmons in July.
He succeeds Paul Bognar as head of Simmons Canada, who will now report to Smith, and Dominic Azevedo, executive vice president of sales, who is leaving the company. Before joining Simmons, Smith was president and CEO of International Bedding Corp. (IBC).
In a separate announcement, IBC said it has named Jeff Maillet to succeed Smith as CEO of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based mattress manufacturer. Reporting to the IBC board of directors, Maillet is responsible for the company’s operations and for pursuing its growth strategies both domestically and internationally.
Previously, Maillet was managing partner of Nobel Asset Management, which he founded in 2005. He has also been a member of the IBC board for the past three years.
