HOUSTON-Mattress Firm’s second-quarter net sales rose 35.5 percent to $410 million, according to a preliminary statement from the specialty retailer.
The jump in the top line owed to a 9.7 percent gain in same-store sales along with the addition of new and acquired stores, the statement said. “Our sales performance has been consistently strong in recent months, which we believe is driven primarily by the continuation of our deliberate growth initiatives as well as the new luxury bedding models on our floors,” said Steve Stagner, Mattress Firm’s president and CEO.
The company’s second quarter ended on July 29. It said it expects to report the quarter’s full results early in September.
For the full fiscal year, Mattress Firm said it expects net sales to total between $1.55 billion and $1.59 billion, up from its previous guidance of between $1.5 billion and $1.56 billion.
