Firm’s Fine Art Lamps Come to Life With LEDs

CARPINTERIA, Calif.–New decorative lamps that bring fine art images to life using light-emitting diodes have been unveiled by the Holland Scott Gallery here.
The company’s Green Energy Fine Art Lamps combine energy-efficient LED technology with the giclée fine-art printmaking process that uses permanent archival vegetable-dye inks on the cylindrical illuminated photographic image.
Candy Hawthorne, an inventor and artist, along with her husband, Scott Hawthorne, a professional photographer, art dealer and a true-digital art pioneer, are the brains behind the lamps. The Hawthornes have been creating art mediums with computers and technology since 1978.
“The natural photographic beauty is complemented with the soft LED lighting,” Scott Hawthorne said. “The eco-friendliness of the new lamps is also very exciting.”
Holland Scott is launching the initial line in its gallery and online, hoping to target many markets.
“Each lamp displays a limited-edition fine art giclée print, so consumers with an interest in contemporary art, photography or eco-friendly lighting will find a comfortable fit,” Scott Hawthorne told HFN. “We consider decorative lighting, high-end homes, modern restaurants or art galleries that feature contemporary lighting all possible markets.”
The long-lasting, cool-touch LED lighting used in the lamps is provided by LEDtronics.
Suggested retail is $495 for the 8-inch-high model, $895 for the 1-foot-tall lamp, and $2,450 for the 2-foot tall table or floor model. For more information, visit hollandscott.com. — Nancy Meyer
