LARCHMONT, N.Y. — Authenticity Lighting LLC, the lighting venture founded by Murray Feiss with his sons-in-law Ron Hersh and Robert Greene two and a half years ago, is closing its business and will wind down operations over the next few weeks.
The company made its debut to the industry in January 2011 and looked to “fill the gap [at retail] in better-quality, better-upscale product,” Greene, president, told HFN in late 2010. Also president, Hersh added at that time that Authenticity aimed to offer something “special and original in nature … Design turns all of us on.”
However, the company principals said that today’s economic climate was not right for this strategy.
“We came back into the industry because we missed the people and the process,” Hersh said in a statement. “The relationships we built over so many years have meant so much to us and we will miss that aspect of the business most of all. We thank everyone in all corners of the lighting trade who supported us at Authenticity and during our tenure at Murray Feiss.”
In 1955, Feiss founded Murray Feiss Lighting—now called Feiss—and then sold it in 2004 to Generation Brands.
