ROSEMONT, Ill.-Barbara Turf, who will retire as president and CEO of Crate and Barrel in April, will deliver the keynote address to the International Home + Housewares Show on March 11.
Turf will speak on “Facing and Embracing Change” beginning at noon in room S100, level 1 of the South building at McCormick Center in Chicago, where the show will take place. She was named president of Crate and Barrel in 1996 and CEO in 2008, in both cases succeeding co-founder Gordon Segal. She announced her retirement last November, and will be succeeded as CEO by Sasha Bopp, chief operating officer, next month.
In addition, Tom Mirabile, senior vice president of global trend and design for Lifetime Brands, will talk about consumer trends for the coming year in “Top Trends for 2012,” which will take place also in S100 of McCormick Center at 7:30 a.m. on March 12. Mirabile’s address will cover lifestyle trends reshaping the housewares industry and the social, economic and technological crosscurrents that will drive consumer behavior in the foreseeable future.
Leatrice Eiseman, consultant with Pantone, will speak about “Future Color Trends—Fantasies and Realities” on March 12 at noon, also in room S100 of the McCormick Center. Eiseman, who also serves as IHA’s color forecaster, will explain how consumers want colors that are both practical and novel in the home goods they purchase.
